Begonia massoniana, also known as the Iron Cross Begonia, is a showstopper with a wild side. Its textured, fuzzy leaves are a lush lime green, boldly marked with a dark chocolate-brown cross at the centre—hence the name. It almost looks too vivid to be real, like something dreamt up in a 1970s sci-fi set. Native to southern China, it thrives in warm, humid environments, where it can spread its quilted foliage and flaunt its strange, mossy charm.
