Tradescantia 'Violet Hill' is a striking, fast-growing trailing plant known for its vibrant mix of purple, silver, and green striped leaves. It brings a big splash of colour to shelves or hanging planters and is super easy to propagate — just snip a stem and pop it in water or soil. It thrives in bright, indirect light, which helps maintain those bold colours, and it appreciates regular watering, though the top of the soil should dry out between drinks to avoid root rot.
When it comes to pets, Tradescantia 'Violet Hill' is not considered pet safe. While not highly toxic, its sap can cause mild irritation to the mouth and skin of cats and dogs, especially if they chew on it. If you’ve got a plant-nibbler at home, it’s better to keep this one on a high shelf or swap it out for a non-toxic trailing plant instead.
