📝 Description

Lithops - Unique Living Stones for Your Home

We are selling single pots of Lithops - the pictures show an example of what range we pick from however this may be different from the picture. Some are green, some brown etc but they all vary.

Lithops, often called pebble plants, are fascinating succulents that grow extremely slowly and rarely exceed 3cm in height above the soil. Characterised by a pair of leaves that resemble small stones, these unique plants feature a fissure separating the leaves and small, window-like holes on top. They are perfect for adding a touch of nature’s whimsy to your indoor spaces.

Lithops are non-toxic to humans and pets, making them a safe choice for households. There are even reports of African children consuming these plants to quench their thirst. However, if chemicals like pesticides have been used on them, they can become hazardous. To ensure safety, it’s best to keep Lithops out of reach of children and pets.

Lithops thrive in bright light and can tolerate full sun. Providing them with 4-5 hours of morning sun and partial afternoon shade in a south or east-facing window is ideal. Protect them from intense heat to prevent sunburn on their foliage. These desert succulents can handle temperatures up to 40C but prefer conditions between 20-25C for optimal growth.

Watering Lithops requires careful attention. Since they store water in their leaves, overwatering can be detrimental. Water them once every fortnight, starting at the end of summer when they are actively growing. During the winter season, it is best to refrain from watering them as their old leaves die and new ones grow. This period of dormancy, from spring to early autumn, is crucial for their growth cycle. Once the days get shorter and temperatures cool in the fall, Lithops will become active again.
