Peperomia prostrata, also known as String of Turtles, is a much-loved trailing houseplant and an easy favourite for shelves, plant stands, and hanging pots. Its fine cascading stems are lined with small, round leaves marked with delicate silvery patterns that resemble tiny turtle shells. Subtle, distinctive, and quietly eye-catching, it adds texture and interest without demanding attention.
This is a relaxed, low-maintenance plant. It prefers bright, indirect light and only occasional watering once the soil has mostly dried out. Overwatering is the main thing to avoid, otherwise it’s very forgiving and well suited to homes or offices. Ideal for beginners and collectors alike, Peperomia prostrata grows steadily and rewards patience with longer, fuller trails over time. It’s a plant that settles in and just gets on with it.
Important notice:
String of Turtles are gently coiled during packaging to protect them in transit. When unwrapped, it’s normal for a few stems to detach. They don’t enjoy being moved, but they recover quickly and will regrow with ease. No panic required.
