Oxalis deppei, commonly called the lucky clover or iron cross plant, is a perennial native to Mexico. It’s easily recognised by its unique four-part leaves, each with a dark maroon blotch at the centre that forms a cross-like pattern. This clover-like foliage is highly decorative and often associated with good fortune, making it popular as both a garden plant and an indoor ornamental. During summer, it produces clusters of small, funnel-shaped, pink to crimson flowers that rise above the foliage, adding to its charm. The plant grows from small underground tubers, allowing it to spread gradually in the right conditions.
Oxalis deppei prefers well-draining soil and thrives in bright, indirect light, though it can also tolerate partial shade. It is well-suited for pots, borders, or rock gardens, and it performs best when kept slightly moist but not waterlogged. In colder climates, it’s often grown as a seasonal plant or brought indoors during winter, since it’s not frost-hardy. Its ability to go dormant and regrow makes it relatively low-maintenance.
My first order with this company couldn't be any better.
Super fast next day delivery, safe and recyclable packaging, very good prices (both plants and postage) and a personal email from management was a nice touch. Thank you all, keep up an amazing work
