Description

The Aspidistra elatior Variegata, often called the Variegated Cast Iron Plant, is a hardy, low-maintenance houseplant prized for its striking green leaves streaked or striped with creamy white or yellow variegation. Originating from the forest floors of East Asia, it’s adapted to thrive in low-light conditions, making it perfect for homes, offices, or shaded corners where other plants might struggle. Its slow growth and upright, arching foliage give it an elegant, architectural presence without demanding constant care.

This plant is exceptionally resilient — tolerant of neglect, irregular watering, and a range of indoor conditions, which is why it’s earned its “cast iron” nickname. It prefers well-draining soil and moderate watering, allowing the top layer to dry between waterings. The variegation adds a decorative twist to the classic Aspidistra, making it a stylish choice for plant collectors and beginners alike. With proper care, it can live for decades, becoming a long-term feature in your indoor garden.

Houseplant Guarantee

We offer a 7-day health guarantee for all plants. This means you have 7 days from the date your plant arrives to report any damages. During this time, you must provide photos of the plant as evidence. After the 7-day period, we cannot process any claims, as it falls outside of our live arrival guarantee.

Important: Repotting your plant within the first 7 days will void our guarantee.

Delivery

Order before 4pm (Mon–Fri) for same-day dispatch. Orders are fully trackable. We use Royal Mail Tracked 24 for most parcels, dependent on weight. If it's heavy, then it needs to go via DPD.

Shipping starts from £4.95 for Tracked 24 and £7.95 for DPD Express.

Amazing place to go to either look around or buy your favourite house plants. I'm so pleased to have found this little shop, such a variety, I got exactly what I wanted with some really helpful guidance and advice. I even got a free plant and tote bag as a promotional offer through December.

I purchased a Magnificent 75cm Alocasia Zebrina Elephant Ear plant. Absolutely stunning. The plant was so healthy with baby leaves coming aswell. PACKAGING came in a huge tall 'Live Plants" cardboard box. So secure with all the stuffing, the plant pot itself was bagged and tied in a recyclable plastic bag so no soil fell out.
