Information on plant sizes
All plants are measured from the bottom of the nursery pot to the tip of the plant and if a height is specified, this is an approximate height, not set in stone. As all plants are living things, they will vary in size throughout the year, and we do our best to give a guide as to the size you can expect. If in doubt drop us an email hello@leafculture.co.uk.
With oval shaped leaves, there are occasional pink hues that run down the sides and the middle. This doesn’t apply to all leaves but it seems that most do seem to exhibit these cool colours. The underneath of the Calathea Illustris is a purple colour and smooth to the touch. Overall the the leaves are slightly shiny with a waxy look - this helps them avoid too much evaporation (meaning they don’t lose water too quickly).
Calathea Illustris prefer indirect light to flourish and they like their soil more on the moist side so avoid it drying out. If you’re thinking about repotting it then we recommend using a soil specific for Calathea - in fact, we sell the exact one called Soil Ninja Premium Calathea and Maranta Blend.
