Alocasia portei, also known as the Giant Elephant Ear, is a real showstopper with its huge, deeply lobed leaves that give it a wild, tropical look. Originally from the Philippines, it loves warm, humid conditions and bright, indirect light. If you give it the right care, it can grow impressively large, making it a stunning centerpiece for your home or garden. Just keep it away from the cold and make sure it’s planted in well-draining soil to keep its roots happy.
Taking care of Alocasia portei isn’t too tricky! It likes regular watering, but let the soil dry out a bit between waterings to avoid soggy roots. Since it thrives in humidity, misting the leaves or using a humidifier can help, especially indoors. Don’t worry if it loses some leaves in cooler months—it might just be going dormant and will bounce back when it warms up. A little fertilizer during the growing season can also give it a boost. Just a heads-up: its leaves and stems are toxic to pets and humans if eaten, so keep it out of reach of curious nibblers!
My first order with this company couldn't be any better.
