Further information on your plant

All plants are measured from the bottom of the nursery pot to the tip of the plant and if a height is specified, this is an approximate height, not set in stone. As all plants are living things, they will vary in size throughout the year, and we do our best to give a guide as to the size you can expect. If in doubt drop us an email hello@leafculture.co.uk. And lastly, minor flaws in leaves might be present and will not be covered for compensation. It's worth noting that plants naturally age like people and are rarely perfect.

This is a lovely plant and you might be wondering where it gets its name from. It's known as the council tree because it was traditionally used as a meeting place for council members in some Southeast Asian communities.

The species of Ficus is very well known in the house plant community because they're generally easy to grow and easy to care for which is what most people are looking for. The leaves are a paler shade of green and the inner section of the leaves is lighter in colour than the outer making them really stand out and make this houseplant very attractive. As the plant matures, the veins become a more prominent colour as long as the plant is well cared for,

The Ficus altissima is relatively compact and stays that way so it stays within a smallish footprint area. It's very happy absorbing water via its leaves so it benefits from regular misting and like most house plants, bright, indirect light is best (no direct sunlight).

Tip: If you ever have a Ficus altissima that is dropping its leaves, it's for two reasons. It may be adjusting to its new environment, or it needs more light (rather than water but use a moisture meter to work that one out).
