The Anthurium warocqueanum, also known as the "Queen Anthurium," is a standout favourite among aroid enthusiasts. This tropical plant, native to Colombia, is famous for its long, velvety leaves that can reach over 4 feet in length when fully grown! The deep green leaves, highlighted by striking silvery veins, give it an elegant, almost royal vibe. In its natural habitat, it grows as an epiphyte, clinging to trees in humid rainforests, which explains its love for high humidity and bright, indirect light. It thrives best in airy, well-draining soil and needs careful watering to avoid root issues, but its stunning foliage makes the extra effort worth it.
That said, the Queen Anthurium can be a little high-maintenance. It’s not a fan of temperature swings, drafts, or low humidity, so it’s a better fit for plant lovers who are ready to meet its specific needs. Ideally, it likes humidity levels around 70–80% and temperatures between 18–25°C. Growth can be slow, but the reward of seeing its huge, velvety leaves unfurl is hard to beat. Whether as the centrepiece of a collection or a standout display, this plant knows how to steal the spotlight.
Note: Anthurium warocqueanum leaves rarely grow without imperfections. Their slow growth means they naturally develop marks over time. This is a normal part of their development, not a flaw or defect.
